Google is adding a new video search feature to Google Drive that will be available to all users by March 26.
While watching a video, opening the Transcript section will bring up a separate block with a written description of the video's content, with each block highlighted as you watch the corresponding moment. This is similar to the feature on music streaming platforms where clicking on a specific line of song lyrics will jump to that moment, or to sections of a YouTube video.
The transcription option is only available if the video has subtitles, as indicated by the presence of a CC button in the controls at the bottom of the Google Drive video player. If the video doesn't have subtitles, you can create them by right-clicking the video file, selecting "Manage subtitle tracks," and then "Create automatic subtitles."
