Epic Games' new Unreal Engine 5.6 was unveiled in early June and features significant technical improvements over the previous version, 5.4. The platform, known for its photorealistic graphics, now offers increased efficiency for both the CPU and GPU.

A new video from the MxBenchmarkPC YouTube channel (via WccfTech) shows the difference between the new and previous versions of the Unreal Engine using the Paris Tech tech demo played on an RTX 5080 with identical settings.

According to testing results, GPU performance in version 5.6 has increased by up to 25% and CPU performance by up to 35%, along with improved frame rate stability. This increase was made possible by more efficient use of computing resources, albeit at the expense of slightly higher power consumption.

In addition to technical performance, Unreal Engine 5.6 offers improved lighting and more realistic rendering, improving overall image quality. Other innovations include improved hardware ray tracing, faster geometry rendering for large-scale static worlds, and more intuitive motion tracking, as demonstrated in the presentation of The Witcher IV.

Overall, Unreal Engine 5.6 opens up new possibilities for developers, especially those working with large game worlds and modern graphics. More detailed information about this update can be found on the official Unreal Engine website.
