The Ukrainian game Blessed Burden from Podoba Interactive has been released on Steam.
Blessed Burden is a hardcore religious platformer in a retro style, the main character of which is the last priest on Earth, who must go through the Devil's dungeon full of traps.
The authors emphasize an atmosphere permeated with religious horror; deconstructivist, brutalist, and infernal architecture; retro styling, and a unique soundtrack – a mix of church choirs, ritual percussion, and industrial sound.
The game can be played either slowly, carefully avoiding traps, or at the frantic pace of a platformer like Super Meat Boy.
Blessed Burden is the second project from Podoba Interactive. In 2023, they released the abstract walking simulator with an interactive soundtrack and a horror atmosphere Museum of Monoliths. The studio is currently developing a cozy meditative game about restoring houses in an abandoned Ukrainian village Back to Hearth. It is scheduled for release in 2025.
Blessed Burden has Ukrainian and English localizations, including voice acting, and is available on Steam for 169 UAH.
