Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remake remains one of the gaming industry's biggest "open secrets." While there's still no official announcement, rumors and leaks have been circulating for years, with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot previously confirming that the company is working on remakes of games in the series.

According to new information from Jeux Vidéo Magazine, the remake of the "pirate part" will receive significant changes. The game will be more focused on RPG elements, which Ubisoft has been actively developing since the days of Assassin's Creed Origins. Edward Kenway will have equipment characteristics, and modern plot inserts will be completely removed, replacing them with additional adventures of the pirate.

The map will remain within the same boundaries, but with new quests and activities. The loading between sea and land will disappear, and some of the content cut back in 2013 will return. The release is expected to take place in the first half of 2026, probably in March.

Despite the lack of official confirmation, Jeux Vidéo Magazine has repeatedly accurately reported on Ubisoft's plans. For example, even before the announcement of Assassin's Creed Mirage, the magazine reported that Ubisoft was preparing a "smaller scale" project that would return the series to its stealth roots.

If at least some of the leaks are confirmed, the remake will be a much larger reimagining of the original, rather than just a visual update, and could set the tone for future remakes in the series.
