WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to answer video calls with the camera turned off. This solves the problem of the camera automatically turning on when receiving calls, which could previously cause privacy concerns.
A new feature discovered in the beta version of WhatsApp (2.25.7.3) for Android by Android Authority adds a "Mute video" option for incoming calls, preventing the camera from automatically turning on when you answer.
Instead of the standard video reply button, users will get an "Turn off your video" option, which allows them to chat without a camera. The camera can be re-enabled during the conversation.
The feature is currently in testing and is not yet available to the general public. The specific timing of its implementation in the stable version of the application is not yet known.
