WhatsApp has announced a new feature that allows users to add music to their statuses.
This feature is similar to the Instagram Stories feature, where you can add soundtracks to your photo or video updates. Now, when creating a status, users will see a music note icon that opens up a library of songs. You can find popular hits, new releases, or your favorite tunes.
Users can choose up to 15 seconds of music for photos and up to 60 seconds for videos. The developers emphasize that all statuses with music will be protected by end-to-end encryption, so WhatsApp will not have access to the content of the statuses.
The feature has already begun rolling out globally and will be available in all regions within a few weeks.
