Animation files were found in the new version of Samsung's One UI 8 shell that demonstrate the design of the company's upcoming triple-folding device.

The shell code revealed the name of this device – MultiFold 7. It is not yet known whether this is a code name or a commercial name for the new smartphone. According to previous rumors, the new product may be called Samsung G Fold.

Judging by the animations published by Android Authority, the smartphone is equipped with three panels and two hinges that fold the device inward (a G-fold). The hinges have different widths to properly fold the device. In turn, the folding design of another triple smartphone – the Huawei Mate XT – has one hinge for folding inward and one for folding outward, which is called a Z-fold.

The smartphone will open from right to left and fold in the opposite direction. One of the animations contains a warning that folding from the right side, where the three cameras are located, may cause damage to the screen.

In the center of the device on the other side will be a second screen that works when the main display is fully folded.

According to preliminary data, the MultiFold 7 will receive a main 9.96-inch folding screen and an additional 6.54-inch regular screen. The expected weight of the device is about 300 grams.

The launch is expected to take place only in South Korea and China. The official announcement could take place as early as next week at Galaxy Unpacked.
