Facebook has announced a new opportunity for content creators to earn money for views on their stories, TechCrunch reports, citing Facebook.
This feature is available to participants in the content monetization program, which combines several previous initiatives such as In-Stream Ads, Ads on Reels, and Performance Bonus. Creators can earn revenue by publishing fragments of their videos or clips in the format of stories, as well as sharing events from their daily lives.
To activate monetization of stories, creators who are already participating in the program do not need to take any additional steps. Facebook also plans to open registration for new participants in 2025. Those who are not part of the program can apply to participate through the official website.
The initiative is part of Meta’s strategy to attract creators from other platforms like TikTok by offering bonuses, content creation deals, and community support. Creators earned more than $2 billion on the social network in 2024, and payments for short videos increased by 80%. Since launching monetization in 2017, Facebook has paid more than 4 million creators for their content.
