Apple will release a foldable iPhone next year instead of the iPhone 18
As The Verge reports, citing The Information, Apple plans to change its traditional iPhone release schedule to make room for the company's first foldable smartphone.
According to the latest data, Apple will introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 18 Air, and a new foldable iPhone in the fall of 2026. At the same time, the standard iPhone 18 will be postponed to the spring of 2027, when it will be released along with the successor to the iPhone 16E model.
The foldable iPhone is expected to have a book-like form factor. Its external display will be 5.7 inches when closed, while the internal screen will be almost 8 inches when opened. Analysts also suggest that the device will feature Face ID instead of Touch ID.
In addition, the iPhone 18 Pro models will receive updated Face ID sensors, which will allow for a smaller notch on the display. It was also previously reported that the anniversary iPhone, which will be released in 2027 - for the smartphone's 20th anniversary - will be manufactured in China, despite tariff issues.
