TikTok launches AI Alive feature to turn images into videos
TikTok has introduced a new tool, AI Alive, that allows users to turn static photos into short videos in TikTok Stories.
The feature is only available through the TikTok Story Camera and uses artificial intelligence to create short videos with movement, atmospheric effects and creative elements. For example, if a photo shows the sky, clouds and the ocean, AI Alive can create a video where the sky changes shades, the clouds drift and the sound of waves can be heard in the background. The feature can also turn a group selfie photo into a video, emphasizing the details of gestures and facial expressions in people.
TikTok says all videos created with AI Alive will be labeled as AI-generated, and built-in C2PA metadata will help identify content that was created with AI, even if it’s uploaded outside the platform. The company has also implemented content moderation that checks uploaded photos to prevent policy violations.
To use the new feature, you need to open Story Camera, tap the blue plus button at the top of your Inbox or profile page, select a photo from your story album, and tap the AI Alive icon on the right sidebar while editing the image.
