THQ Nordic announced Darksiders 4 with up to 4-player co-op
THQ Nordic officially announced Darksiders 4 during its online presentation. The plot will directly continue the events of the first game in 2010, the ending of which hinted at the unification of all four horsemen of the Apocalypse — War, Death, Fury and Discord. The debut teaser showed the return of War and his allies against the backdrop of threats from the forces of Heaven, Hell and the Council.
Darksiders 4 will allow for four-player co-op for the first time. All riders will be available to choose from, each with their own fighting style and abilities. THQ Nordic promises dynamic third-person combat, with an emphasis on "cinematic" action, close combat, acrobatics and the supernatural powers of the riders. The game uses a new version of the engine, adapted for modern consoles.
The game will once again take place in a post-apocalyptic world where the balance between Heaven, Hell, and humanity has been disrupted. In the tradition of the series, players will encounter bosses, puzzles, location exploration, and RPG elements with character development.
In previous games, players controlled a single horseman: Death in Darksiders 2, Fury in Darksiders 3. Darksiders Genesis broke with this tradition and offered two-player co-op — for War and Discord.
Darksiders 4 will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A release date has not yet been announced.
