For fans of Apple smartphones, the fall of 2025 may be a little more interesting than the previous few, as more changes are expected in the iPhone 17 lineup than usual. For starters, the iPhone 17 Pro will significantly increase the camera unit, which, with a similar arrangement of sensors to the current one, will still "stretch" across the entire width of the case. This will affect the design in a certain way.
But the most interesting point remains the model that, unlike the competing version from Samsung, no one has even teased — the iPhone 17 Air. It is expected that this will be the new thinnest iPhone, which theoretically can replace the models with the Plus index.
Even now, insiders are competing to report the smallest bits of information that somehow get to them. Among them were even CAD renders. This option was also shown by insider Majin Bu.
In collaboration with him, YouTube channel iDeviceHelp recreated mockups of iPhone 17 models to more clearly demonstrate the features of the cases of Apple's next line of smartphones. The short video covers the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, and the smaller version of the iPhone 17 Pro (which will differ from the 17 Pro Max only in its more compact size).
If the obtained renders really correspond to the current developments of Cupertino engineers, then you won't have to expect much new from the design of the iPhone 17. The enlarged camera unit of the iPhone 17 Pro, in addition to making it easier to visually distinguish the new model from the previous ones, will also help the smartphone reflect less with its corners on a flat surface when the owner does not lift the device from the table during use.
But the iPhone 17 Air could still be a much more interesting smartphone. For example, its already thin keys on the layout take up almost the entire width of the side panels. Of course, with the camera protrusion, there will still be thicker places on the body. However, compared to other models, the iPhone 17 Air could really become something new.
However, it is worth remembering that such a thin body will have a number of limitations, because it is unlikely to be able to accommodate a large battery, and as can be seen from the mockups, it will have only one main camera. And how Apple will cope with the autonomy of the new product, and what other limitations the smartphone will have, we are unlikely to fully know before the presentation.
