There were two 4A Games studios operating in Ukraine, one of which has now become Reburn.
On February 27, a new Ukrainian studio, Reburn, announced its project La Quimera. However, this announcement caused confusion: Reburn was called a rebranding of the Ukrainian division of 4A Games, while 4A Games assured that it was not changing the name and was continuing to work on Metro. A new statement from 4A Games resolves these misunderstandings.
In 2014, the founders of 4A Games formed a new company, 4A Games Limited, headquartered in Malta and continuing its operations in Ukraine, where the majority of the team is now located – 150 out of over 200 employees. At the same time, 4A Games Ukraine, now known as Reburn, also operated in Ukraine.
4A Games Limited and 4A Games Ukraine previously collaborated on Metro Exodus, but after finishing work on the game and its expansions, both studios went their separate ways. Limited created another Kyiv studio that continues to work on the Metro franchise in partnership with Deep Silver and Plaion, while the Ukrainian company began work on its own game La Quimera and recently rebranded as Reburn.
The studio that created the entire Metro series remains unchanged and continues to work on new games in the franchise, details of which have not yet been disclosed. At the same time, 4A Games reminds that March marks the 15th anniversary of the release of Metro 2033, and there will be a celebration on this occasion. A little later, the studio promises to reveal what exactly it is working on.
