Jason Schreier reported on the ResetEra forum that CD Projekt's announcement of The Witcher 4 was quite early, and the game will not be released before 2027. The studio later confirmed this during a financial report for investors, writes PCGamer.
The first mention that the game would not be released in 2026 came during a review of the "consolidated net profit targets of the incentive program to align top managers' goals with those of the CD Projekt group." A studio representative noted: "Even if we do not plan to release The Witcher 4 by the end of 2026, we are still targeting this financial goal."
The company is still trying not to give clear dates and is limited to vague corporate formulations.
"We are not going to announce the precise launch date for the game yet," CD Projekt CFO Piotr Nelyubovich responded to PCGamer's request. "All we could share now to give more visibility to investors is that the game will not be launched within the time frame of the first target for the incentive program, which ends December 31, 2026."
As a reminder, CD Projekt recently signed a partnership agreement with Scopely, one of the largest mobile game developers in the world. This company developed Monopoly Go!, one of the most expensive games in the industry, which earned about $2 billion.
Schreier also wrote that we shouldn't expect a new game from Naughty Dog, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, before 2027, but there is no confirmation of this information yet.
