CD Projekt Red Group has shared its financial report for the first quarter of 2025. While the company's profits remained at the same level as last year, there are other interesting details in the report.
After the recent 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, for which Mezha prepared a separate article, the Polish company reported that the game, including regular and GOTY editions and add-ons, earned 2.4 billion zlotys, or about $639 million.
CD Projekt Red is currently working on The Witcher 4, which has already attracted 422 employees. The plot of the new part will focus on Ciri, who will become the main character. The first and so far only trailer for the game was shown at The Game Awards. No further details have been revealed at this time, and the game is expected to be released no earlier than 2027.
CD Projekt Red also announced that the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 has entered pre-production and that nearly 100 people are already working on the game. At the same time, the Phantom Liberty expansion has already sold 10 million copies. The company did not report on sales of the main game in the new report. As of November 2024, 30 million copies had been sold.
The company also notes that the Cyberpunk 2077 port for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on June 5, 2025, along with the release of Nintendo's new console.
In addition, 48 people are involved in the Sirius project, which is being developed by CD Projekt Red's in-house studio Molasses Flood. This game will be a spin-off in the Witcher universe, but other details are not yet revealed. Also, 19 people are involved in the Hadar project, a new original game from the Polish studio, about which nothing is currently known, except for its existence.
CD Projekt Red still has plans to remake the first The Witcher on Unreal Engine 5 under the working title Canis Majoris, which the studio announced back in 2022, but since then no new information about the project has appeared, and this time was no exception.
As for the financial results of CD Project Red Group, everything is on par with the first quarter of 2024 - the company earned PLN 226,305,000, or about $60.2 million. The main income is now brought in by Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty - PLN 146 million, and then by The Witcher trilogy - PLN 28 million. At the same time, net profit for the first quarter amounted to PLN 86 million, compared to PLN 100 million for the same period last year.
