After a successful Kickstarter campaign for The Sinking City 2, Ukrainian studio Frogwares also announced a remaster of the first part, which was released in 2019, on Unreal Engine 5. Now the studio has unexpectedly released it on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The Sinking City Remastered is currently on sale at a 50% discount of UAH 449 on Steam. For players who own the original game, the update will be free.

The remastered version features a number of visual improvements, including support for global illumination and ray tracing, 4K textures and additional environmental detail, as well as support for FSR, DLSS and frame generation. The game also features wide dynamic range lighting and a photo mode. Among other things, improvements have been made to the controls, combat, game balance, mobs and training.

The Sinking City is an open-world detective adventure game inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Players take on the role of a private detective and travel to the semi-submerged city of Oakmon, which has been overrun by supernatural forces. There, they must uncover the mystery of the madness that has gripped the city and its inhabitants.

Recall that Frogwares is also working on a sequel. The Ukrainian studio ran a campaign on Kickstarter, which raised the necessary €100,000 in just a few hours. The total amount of support by the end of the campaign reached €554,002. The game is scheduled for release in late 2025.
