95% of tickets for the screening of the film The Odyssey in IMAX 70 mm format were sold in the first hours after the opening of sales in the United States - a year before the official premiere on July 17, 2026. This is a unique case for studio releases, which usually sell tickets several months before the release. This is reported by Variety.
Those who didn't manage to buy tickets at the official price are turning to second-hand sellers. On eBay, tickets are being sold at prices that are 4-10 times higher than retail. For example, a ticket for an evening screening at Cinemark in Dallas costs about $200, and a lot of four tickets for Saturday at AMC Lincoln Square in New York starts at $1,000.
The demand is driven not only by Nolan's reputation, but also by the film's unique format. The Odyssey is the first studio film shot entirely on 70mm IMAX cameras, and audiences are eager to see it in that format. Cinemas are already announcing that additional screenings will be scheduled and additional tickets will be available closer to the premiere. In addition, the film will also be released in regular theaters.
The main roles are played by Matt Damon (Odysseus), Tom Holland (Telemachus), Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson and others. Filming is currently underway, including in Scotland.
