The M3 Ultra chip from the new Apple Mac Studio was tested in Geekbench and here are the results

Apple introduced a new Mac Studio desktop computer a few days ago with M4 Max and M3 Ultra chips. As GSMArena reports, the latter has already appeared in the Geekbench 6 database, which allowed us to evaluate its performance.

The M3 Ultra is equipped with a 32-core processor and 256GB of combined memory. In tests, it scored 3,221 points in single-core performance and 27,749 points in multi-core.

The results show that the M3 Ultra is 20% behind the 16-core M4 Max in single-core tests, but outperforms it by 8% in multi-core tests. It is worth noting that the M3 Ultra uses the first-generation 3nm process technology, while the M4 series is based on the more efficient second-generation.

Compared to its predecessor, the M2 Ultra, the new chip shows a 13% increase in single-core performance and a 25% increase in multi-core performance. However, this is significantly less than Apple's claimed 50% performance increase.

But these are just the first tests of the M3 Ultra and it is expected that further, more detailed testing will reveal the potential of the new chip, especially in graphics performance.
