Neil Druckmann: "Don’t bet on there being more of Last of Us"
It seems that there is not very good news for fans of the The Last of Us franchise. In Neil Druckmann's latest interview, Variety asked him about the prospects for the release of The Last of Us Part 3. To which Druckmann replied: "I was waiting for this question. I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it." This statement coincides with the words of Druckmann, which he said about a year ago, before the announcement of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. He claimed that although The Last of Us Part 3 would not be the studio's next game, he already had a concept for the game and it was supposed to unite the three parts of The Last of Us. It seems that Neil Druckmann's plans have changed and the last game in the franchise will be The Last of Us Part II Remastered, which is already available on PlayStation 5 consoles and will be released on PC on April 3.
However, the franchise continues to live on outside of video games. The second season of HBO's The Last of Us will start this spring. In any case, even if the studio does take up the development of the third part, it will be a long time to wait: Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has been in development since 2020 and so far has only an announcement trailer and no hints of a release date.
