Tesla electric cars will receive support for Unreal Engine
Tesla plans to update the renderings in its electric cars for Autopilot and Full Self-Driving functions, replacing the Godot engine with Epic Games' Unreal Engine. This became known after hacker greentheonly found signs of a transition to the new engine in firmware 2025.20 for Model S and Model X with AMD chips, writes Not a Tesla App.
The Unreal Engine, best known for video game development, has recently been heavily promoted by Epic for use in cars. If Tesla makes the switch, it would join brands like Rivian, Ford, GMC, Volvo, and Lotus that have already integrated the technology.
Tesla and Epic Games have not yet commented on the information. By the way, they have already collaborated before - last year the Cybertruck appeared in Fortnite.
