Tesla has announced a new version of its Model Y Performance electric crossover in Europe. The sporty modification has received adaptive suspension, a larger central screen and increased performance, reports InsideEVs.
The Model Y Performance is equipped with two electric motors and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h. The WLTP range is 580 km, which is only 6 km less than the Long Range AWD version. Also compared to the Long Range AWD, the Performance reaches 100 km/h 1.3 seconds faster and has a top speed of 49 km/h higher.
The ground clearance of this model is 151 mm, which is 16 mm less than the Long Range AWD version. Weight is 2,033 kg, which is 36 kg more than the standard twin-motor version. The adaptive suspension changes stiffness depending on road conditions and driving style and supports several handling modes, while other versions of the Model Y use dampers with a fixed characteristic.
The exterior of the sports version received a more aggressive body kit, a rear spoiler and 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels — the largest available for Model Y.
The model's interior is equipped with a 16-inch Ultra HD screen (instead of 15.4 inches in other versions), sports front seats with electric adjustment, heating and ventilation, carbon inserts and a 16-speaker audio system. The seats have an additional extension for the hips, and the central screen supports new functions for displaying car information and media.
The first European deliveries of the Model Y Performance will begin in September. The base price is €61,990, which is €9,000 more than the Long Range AWD. There is no information yet on the start of sales in the US.
Recall that sales of Tesla electric cars in Europe continue to fall for the seventh consecutive month, while the Chinese manufacturer BYD is gaining popularity.
