Taiwanese do not support TSMC moving production to the United States

- 26 February, 03:37 PM

The analytical company Foundation for the People conducted a survey among Taiwanese on their attitude towards the transfer of TSMC's 2-nanometer production to the United States. The majority of respondents (84.8%) expressed dissatisfaction with this decision. This is reported by TVBS News.

The survey also asked about the possibility of tariff pressure from the United States: 85.6% of participants are sure that this will happen, and 52.8% consider such a scenario "very likely." In addition, only 40.6% of respondents believe that trade between Taiwan and the United States is fair, while 62.4% believe that the United States has the upper hand in negotiations.

In response to Donald Trump's claims that Taiwan is "taking away America's semiconductor business," 88.4% of those surveyed disagreed with this statement.

Legislative Yuan Deputy Speaker Johnny Chang suggested that the Trump administration's strategy involves changing the global trade landscape by using tariffs as a negotiating tool. He stressed that this was an "era of grand negotiations" and urged Taiwan to take advantage of a range of industries, not just semiconductors.
