Steam-online The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered exceeded 180 thousand players on the first day
The seemingly unexpected release of Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has been a success. According to SteamDB, the online RPG peaked at 182,298 players, the third-highest for a game released in 2025.
If we use data from the release of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which, like the remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, was released simultaneously on Steam and Game Pass, we can assume that the number of players in Game Pass in Oblivion is at least 3 times greater than in Steam, that is, another 500 thousand.
In this case, the total "sales" (after all, a game on Game Pass is not exactly a sale) of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered could reach 8-10 million copies in six months. Not bad for a remaster.
And this, in turn, may encourage Bethesda to take on remasters of other of its own games, for example, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Fallout 3, Dishonored. And that's a good thing.
