Valve has launched a beta test of a revamped Steam interface. The new design is supposed to make it easier to find games and navigate with a clearer menu at the top of the page, Engadget reports.

The beta version of the client features a Browse section that allows you to quickly find bestsellers, new releases, and discounts, as well as a Recommendations button that suggests games based on the user's library, play time, and community recommendations. A separate Categories menu helps you browse popular genres and tags for a more personalized selection.

The search function has also been redesigned - it now shows the most popular queries, recently viewed games by the user, and the user's favorite genres. For those who want to filter games by more detailed parameters, an Advanced Search button has been added.

The update comes amid criticism of Steam's policy of removing a large number of games with adult content after changes in cooperation with payment processors Visa and Mastercard.

The new store is currently only available to Steam Client Beta users, who can leave feedback to help shape the final design.
