Valve is expanding Steam's accessibility tools for players in Big Picture mode and on SteamOS devices — currently, these include the Steam Deck and Lenovo Legion Go S. The new options have been added to the latest beta version of the client.
Among the innovations are interface scaling settings with font size adjustment, high contrast mode for better visibility of text and buttons, and the ability to limit animations and transitions to reduce movement.
For SteamOS users, screen reader support has been added with volume, pitch, and speed control. Color filters are also available: grayscale, brightness, and color inversion, which affect the Steam interface and game content.
Valve emphasizes that this is just the first stage of developing accessibility features. The company encourages users with special needs to leave feedback and suggestions for further improvement of the service.
Recall that Valve recently published a list of the 50 most profitable games and expansions released in May 2025. In addition to hits like DOOM: The Dark Ages, the list also included several unexpected and unconventional projects.
