In May 2025, Starlink completed 15 launches, putting 372 broadband satellites and 26 direct-connect satellites into orbit, Starlink Vice President of Engineering Michael Nichols announced on his X account.

The latest launch was on May 31, which brought another 27 telecommunications devices into orbit. The total number of satellites that Starlink has launched into orbit is 8,823, of which 6,799 are in operational orbit, at an altitude of about 550 kilometers.

Meanwhile, SpaceX's competitors are actively trying to catch up with Starlink. Amazon launched the first 27 satellites in April as part of Project Kuiper, which is supposed to provide global satellite internet by analogy with Musk's company. However, Amazon is currently having problems with satellite production.

In addition, China is also starting to actively develop in this direction. In November last year, Chinese startup SpaceSail signed a deal to start work in Brazil and is in talks to launch in more than 30 other countries. The startup plans to launch 648 satellites this year, and 15,000 by 2030.
