The Ukrainian Armed Forces will appear in the realistic shooter SQUAD
The Ukrainian Armed Forces will appear in the game SQUAD. This was announced by developers from the Canadian studio Offworld Industries (via PlayUA). The Ukrainian military is currently in development, with a release scheduled for the end of the year.
According to the authors, this decision is dictated by both the popularity of the game among Ukrainian players (Ukraine is in the top 4 in terms of audience), and the desire to provide a more realistic representation of the modern battlefield. Recall that SQUAD has Ukrainian localization.
In parallel, the Eastern Europe biome will be updated - the update will affect vegetation and architecture. The update will also add a redesigned squad creation system and a match reward function.
In June, the team completed final testing of the game on Unreal Engine 5. Taking into account player feedback, the developers revised the update schedule: by the end of the year, two large-scale patches will be released - versions 9.0 and 10.0. This approach will allow us to focus on the main changes and leave room for operational fixes between releases.
Separately, a Commendations system is in development, a progression where players will be able to recognize others for effective play, leadership, or support for newcomers. The corresponding badges will appear next to names in the HUD, leaderboards, and other interface elements. This should improve the first experience for new players.
The developers promise to release more information about the next updates and changes in August.
