Following Apple's policy change regarding purchases outside the App Store, Spotify has updated its iPhone app. Now users in the US can see prices for audiobooks and purchase them using external links, The Verge reports.
Additionally, Spotify Premium subscribers can purchase additional hours of audiobooks. The company submitted an update last week, and it has now been officially approved.
This was made possible by the court ruling in Epic Games v. Apple, which stated that Apple cannot charge fees for purchases outside of the App Store or restrict developers from using payment methods outside of Apple billing.
Spotify stopped selling audiobooks in its app in 2022, accusing Apple of hindering competition. The company also recently allowed Spotify subscriptions outside the App Store, and it's possible that this feature will be available in other regions in the future.
