Spotify is introducing a new Upcoming Releases section that will allow users to keep track of upcoming album releases and offer personalized recommendations based on their listening history.
Users will be able to pre-save upcoming releases, view Countdown Pages with tracklists, available singles, music videos and artist merch. On the day of release, Spotify will send notifications and automatically add the album to the user's library.
The service will also feature a global top 10 most anticipated albums by number of pre-saved songs. These rankings will be updated every Wednesday and shared across Spotify’s social media channels, including Instagram, TikTok and X.
The update is designed to improve music recommendations and listener engagement with new releases. For artists, the hub can be an additional source of attention for upcoming albums, merch, and tours.
As a reminder, Spotify recently received an updated interface and several new features for Premium users. For example, the app has a new button for hiding tracks that works on all devices, as well as a Snooze function that allows you to exclude a song from recommendations for 30 days.
