Sony introduces PlayStation Family mobile app to control children's gaming
Sony has introduced a new mobile application, the PlayStation Family App, for iOS and Android devices, which provides parents with additional tools to manage their children's gaming activity on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.
The app is positioned as a standalone parental control tool with a set of customizable features. It provides step-by-step instructions for quickly creating a child's PlayStation account, the ability to receive real-time notifications about what the child is playing and approve or deny requests for additional play time.
The PlayStation Family App also allows you to set restrictions on access to individual games and send messages to your child directly through the mobile interface. Weekly activity reports will help you track game time and quickly change settings.
Parents can also top up their child's account, view their balance and set a monthly spending limit. Content restrictions include pre-defined age profiles with automatic filters, which can be manually adjusted to add or remove content from the PlayStation Store.
Sony has announced plans to further expand the functionality of the PlayStation Family App. The application is already available for download in most regions.
