Sony made several announcements for fighting game fans at its State of Play presentation. The company introduced the Project Defiant wireless fight stick, a new game MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls in collaboration with Arc System Works, and the retro collection Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection.
Project Defiant is the first fight stick from Sony Interactive Entertainment to support both wired and wireless connections via PlayStation Link with minimal latency. The device will be compatible with PS5 and PC, will receive interchangeable gates for the lever (square, octagonal and circular 360°), low-profile mechanical buttons, a touchpad and a carrying case. The start of sales is scheduled for 2026.
The same year, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be released, a 4v4 team-based fighting game featuring Marvel characters. The game is being developed by Arc System Works, the creators of the Guilty Gear series, Marvel Games, and PlayStation Studios. Players are promised easy-to-learn yet deep gameplay, along with anime-style visuals and turn-based transitions between arenas.
Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will also be released by the end of 2025. It will contain arcade, console, and handheld versions of classic games from the original Mortal Kombat to Deadly Alliance. The collection will be complemented by interactive materials on game creation and online support with rollback netcode.
