Sony has stopped sales of the flagship Xperia 1 VII due to serious software failures

- 4 July, 11:53 PM

In May, Sony introduced its new flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, which has already gone on sale in Japan. However, the company has announced that it will stop shipping and selling the device in the domestic market, GSMArena reports, citing Sony's official website in Japan.

This is reportedly due to numerous user reports of serious malfunctions in the operation of these smartphones – they turn off on their own, reboot spontaneously, or do not turn on at all.

Sony recommends that owners of the affected Xperia 1 VII hold down the power and volume up buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds to restart the device. After that, the company recommends installing the latest software update. If this does not resolve the issue, Sony advises contacting support.

At this time, Sony only suggests that the update may resolve the issues, although the cause of the issues is still under investigation. As such, the update is a precautionary measure, not a guaranteed solution. The company's next steps will depend on the results of its analysis of the situation.
