Solos has introduced AirGo smart glasses with built-in Ally artificial intelligence from Envision, which helps people with visual impairments, Engadget reports.
Ally is a chatbot designed specifically to help people with low vision. It can recognize faces, read text, describe scenes, and perform many other tasks. Users can use voice commands to ask it to scan and describe a document or photo, check their calendar, or answer any question.
Solos says this set of features will make the glasses useful not just for people with visual impairments, but for anyone else. The company also names the elderly, people with cognitive impairments, and those "who are overwhelmed by modern devices but are interested in what artificial intelligence can do."
The AirGo smart glasses also support contact lenses, furthering the company's desire to help people with low vision. They also feature a modular component that allows for swapping out different front parts of the frame for customization.
The glasses are now available for pre-order. The asking price is from $399. The kit also includes a trial version of Ally Pro, which offers advanced customization options. The new products are scheduled to ship in October 2025.
