Qualcomm is gearing up for its Snapdragon Summit event, which will take place in Hawaii from September 23 to 25. It is likely that the new Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, Snapdragon X2 Elite and other products will be introduced, but the company has not officially confirmed this yet. Well-known tipster Roland Quandt has reported that we can expect the release of a new flagship processor for laptops - Snapdragon X2 Elite.
According to an insider, this chip, which has the model number SC8480XP, could have 18 cores and support for up to 64 GB of RAM, which is twice the capabilities of the previous Snapdragon X Elite.
Roland Quandt previously reported that Qualcomm was testing this processor with 48 GB of RAM, but according to new data, the company is actively testing variants with 64 GB. This amount of memory is rarely found in Windows laptops, except for workstations and gaming models.
Qualcomm is looking to strengthen its position in the ARM-based laptop chip market, competing with Intel and AMD. If the Snapdragon X2 Elite rumors are true, it will be one of the most powerful chips in this segment.
