Trump's new tariffs now exclude smartphones and computer products

- 12 April, 07:00 PM

The Donald Trump administration has made changes to its tariff policy that have caused a significant resonance in the global economy, writes WccfTech. According to new recommendations from the US Customs Service, smartphones and computers are not subject to "reciprocal tariffs", which has become an important relief for the consumer market.

The new rules include exemptions for products with tariff codes 8517.13.00 (smartphones) and 8471 (computer products). This means that prices for these categories will remain stable despite the introduction of new tariffs. In addition, semiconductor manufacturing equipment with code 8486 also received an exemption, which is important for US chipmakers.

This policy allows companies like Apple, Dell, and HP to continue business operations without significant changes to pricing. However, experts warn that the exemption status could change in the future, given the rapid changes in policy under the Trump administration.
