Foldable iPhone Will Cost $2,000 and look like two iPhone Airs connected together — Bloomberg

Apple is preparing its first foldable iPhone, which analysts predict could arrive in late 2026. Despite the lack of official confirmation, insiders are already sharing the first details about the design and specifications.

As Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported in his Power On newsletter, the new product will look "like two iPhone Airs connected together." This means that the smartphone will be relatively thin, although it is likely thicker than its competitors — the Pixel 10 Pro Fold (10.8 mm) and Galaxy Fold7 (8.9 mm). For comparison, the iPhone Air is 5.6 mm thick. At the same time, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that when unfolded, the device could be even thinner — about 4.5 mm.

As for the price, expectations are less optimistic. According to Gurman, the foldable iPhone will cost at least $2,000, and possibly more, making it more expensive than its competitors.

Among the advantages of the future smartphone is its increased durability. The device, like the iPhone Air, will be made of titanium, which has proven itself well in tests by JerryRigEverything and iFixIt. The latter also rated the Air's repairability at 7 out of 10 — a fairly high score for modern smartphones. If the foldable iPhone gets a similar rating, it will be a significant breakthrough against the background of the weak results of its competitors. The Pixel Fold and Galaxy Z Fold7 scored only three points each.

Thus, Apple plans not only to enter the market of foldable devices, but also to focus on a thin design, titanium strength, and better maintainability, even despite the high price.
