Foldable iPhone to get four cameras, Touch ID and a crease-free display — Bloomberg
Apple is preparing to release its first foldable iPhone, and according to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the company plans to abandon Face ID in favor of Touch ID, which will be integrated into the power button.
The smartphone will also have four cameras at once: one front-facing, one internal for selfies in expanded mode, and two main ones on the back. This will allow you to adapt the photo capabilities to different usage scenarios - both in a closed and open format.
The new iPhone will have a "book" design: when folded, the user will get a 5.5-inch external screen, and when unfolded, a large 7.8-inch display. Apple is currently testing black and white case options.
It is also known that the device will be equipped with the second generation Apple C2 modem, but will not have a physical SIM slot — only eSIM support.
Special attention is paid to the display. Apple will use a special metal plate with laser holes that will distribute the stress during bending, which will eliminate the noticeable crease on the screen.
The foldable iPhone is expected to be introduced in 2026.
