The Xbox gaming division showed good results thanks to good sales of games on… PlayStation. Six of the ten best-selling projects on Sony consoles were published by Microsoft, according to leading analyst Circana.
From April to June 2025, six Microsoft projects were particularly popular on PlayStation, five of which were new. Among the older games on the list was Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which is not surprising given the popularity of the CoD series. In addition, the “eternal classic” Minecraft was in consistently high demand.
Other projects on the list include the remastered The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which garnered over 180,000 online plays on Steam alone on its release day. The game was also available for free through Game Pass and was immediately released on Sony consoles.
Also on the list is Forza Horizon 5, which came in second place in sales, behind only Elden Ring's co-op spinoff Nightreign. Also on the list are DOOM: The Dark Ages and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which is selling better on PS5 than on Xbox.
At the same time, Sony had only two projects in the best-selling games - the baseball game MBL: The Show 2025, as well as Kojima Production's latest release Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, which is a PlayStation 5 exclusive, at least for now.
On Xbox, Microsoft games were slightly less popular, taking only four out of ten positions. Among the hits were TES: Oblivion, TES: Online, Minecraft, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The leader on the platform, as on PlayStation, remains Elden Ring: Nightreing.
