The US Army intends to use artificial intelligence to increase the autonomy of the upcoming Golden Dome system, which President Trump plans to implement for the country's air and missile defense, Defense News reports.

General Frank Lozano, head of the US Army's Missile and Space Program Office, noted that this will help reduce the need for human resources to manage this system.

The main areas of development include integrating artificial intelligence into fire control to reduce the number of operators, creating remotely controlled systems, and developing autonomous systems. Instead of traditional rocket launchers with a crew of two or three soldiers, the system can store missiles in special containers or bury them in the ground. This will reduce the need for maintenance and inspections.

By the way, the US Army also intends to use the experience of creating a defense system for Guam, which will be operational by 2027, to develop the "Golden Dome". In addition, the US Army plans to interact with new companies in the AI market, in particular with the French Safran and the American Anduril. Over the next six to nine months, it is planned to determine the requirements for the industry and begin publishing requests.
