Honor Magic smartphones will now receive 7 years of Android and security updates

- 3 March, 02:41 AM

Honor announced at MWC 2025 that its Magic series devices will now have seven years of major Android updates and security patches, GSMArena reports.

This decision comes after Qualcomm announced that it would extend support for the Snapdragon 8 and 7 chipsets for up to eight years. Honor said it would become the third company after Google and Samsung to offer such extended support.

This announcement is part of Honor's new strategic vision called "Alpha Plan", focused on creating a global ecosystem of devices controlled by artificial intelligence.

Honor is also taking steps towards sustainability by reducing e-waste through a long support period that encourages users to keep their devices longer. The company notes that it is a global leader in device lifecycle management in line with the EU Circular Economy and Ecodesign Regulation.

The first to receive the updated support will be the flagship HONOR Magic 7 Pro, but it is not yet known whether previous Honor Magic models will be included in this initiative. More information on this is expected in the near future.
