According to recent reports, Samsung is planning to introduce a new type of wireless headphones with an open design that uses bone conduction technology.
According to well-known insider Ice Universe (via Sammobile), these headphones are codenamed Able and will be presented along with the new foldable smartphones Galaxy Fold7 and Galaxy Flip7 at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2025.
The new headphones are said to transmit sound around the ear, rather than inside it. Bone conduction technology allows sound to be transmitted through the vibrations of the skull bones, leaving the ear canal open. This will allow users to listen to music or take calls without losing "connection" with their surroundings. This approach is especially useful for runners, cyclists, and other active people who need to hear their surroundings while using headphones.
Samsung currently offers two types of headphones: the in-ear Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and the semi-sealed Galaxy Buds 3. The new headphones with an open design could be an important addition to the lineup, focused on safety and convenience.
