Samsung is working on smart glasses, similar to Ray-Ban by Meta, that will use its own platform rather than Android, as the South Korean company sees Google as a potential competitor. Their release could take place by the end of 2026, writes Sedaily.

The glasses, like the Ray-Ban Meta, will not have a screen, but will be equipped with speakers, a microphone and a camera. They will be able to take photos and record videos, connect to Galaxy smartphones and have an AI assistant.

Samsung is working closely with Google on various AR/XR projects, including the Moohan headset, which is similar in concept to the Apple Vision Pro. At the same time, these glasses are being created as a separate product. The company's goal is to form its own line of devices and gain leadership in the smart glasses market.

Samsung is convinced that the future belongs to smart glasses, and future models will even have a built-in screen. In their opinion, over time, such devices can replace smartphones and become the main gadgets for everyday use.

Previously, there were reports that Samsung was working on two pairs of XR glasses, known as the Haean and Jinju projects. One of these prototypes is likely to appear in 2026. Meanwhile, in the summer, Samsung's mobile division president TM Roh said that the company is working with Google on AR glasses.

In addition to Google, Samsung should also be concerned about other players in the market. For example, Meta recently introduced new smart glasses created in collaboration with Oakley. There are also rumors that Apple is preparing its own smart glasses and may release them as early as 2026.
