Before announcing the foldable Fold 7 and Flip 7 models, Samsung officially told Android Police which features of its proprietary Galaxy AI artificial intelligence will never be paid for.
According to the company, all Galaxy AI features that are "default" on Galaxy smartphones will remain free forever. This applies to tools such as Audio Eraser, Object Eraser, Note Assist, Generative Wallpapers, Live Translate, Writing Assist, and others that the company developed in-house.
Samsung previously stated on its website that Galaxy AI would be free until the end of 2025, which caused confusion. The company has now clarified that this applies to third-party tools, while proprietary AI features will not move to a paid category.
However, features based on Google's Gemini technology may be subject to a fee. They are currently available for free, but this may change in the future. Therefore, Samsung cannot guarantee free access to Gemini tools in the long term, as pricing is determined by Google.
Earlier, information appeared that Samsung is in talks with Perplexity to integrate its AI products into Galaxy mobile devices. According to preliminary data, the use of these functions may already be on a paid basis.
Samsung plans to announce the integration this year, but it has become known that Apple is considering buying startup Perplexity to strengthen its developments in the field of artificial intelligence, which could become an obstacle for Samsung.
