Samsung helps victims of forest fires in South Korea by donating home appliances
Samsung has announced extensive humanitarian assistance for victims of the forest fires that broke out on March 21, 2025 in Gyeongbuk Province, South Korea. According to an official government report, 3,441 houses in the area were completely burned down, while 486 houses were partially burned down.
As part of this initiative, Samsung donated 1 billion won worth of home appliances, equivalent to approximately $685,000. The donated items include air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, and televisions, which will help affected families return to normal life more quickly.
The equipment will be distributed through the Korean Red Cross and the local government of Gyeongbuk Province. In addition, Samsung has set up mobile service centers at evacuation points where home appliances and smartphones are repaired free of charge. The company has sent special buses with the necessary equipment for this purpose.
Samsung Electronics, together with its subsidiaries, also donated 3 billion won (~ $2,000,000) , 1,000 first aid kits, and 600 tents for temporary shelter. This assistance covers not only Gyeongbuk Province but also the neighboring regions of Gyeongnam and Ulsan. Through these activities, the company demonstrates its social responsibility and support for the victims.
