Samsung officially introduced the new Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic smartwatches at Unpacked 2025, featuring the slimmest design based on the Galaxy Watch Ultra and integration with Gemini. At the same time, the company introduced a new color for the Galaxy Watch Ultra – Titanium Blue.
The regular Galaxy Watch8 comes in two sizes – 44 and 40 millimeters in graphite and silver. The larger watch measures 43.7 x 46 x 8.6 mm and weighs 34 grams, while the smaller one measures 40.4 x 42.7 x 8.6 mm and weighs 30 grams.
Samsung says the 11% thinner design compared to the previous generation was achieved through a completely redesigned internal structure. At the same time, the mounting capabilities of components have been improved by 30%. The company says that together with the Dynamic Lug system, this design will naturally move with the user's wrist for greater comfort and stability.
Meanwhile, the differences between the versions also lie in the sizes of the Super AMOLED displays – 1.47 and 1.34 inches with a resolution of 480 x 480 and 438 x 438 pixels, respectively. They have a full-color screen with Always On support and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
The final difference between the larger and smaller versions of the Galaxy Watch8 is the battery. The 44mm version has a capacity of 435 mAh, while the 40mm has a capacity of 325 mAh. On the other hand, both watches are equipped with a 3-nanometer 5-core Exynos W1000 processor paired with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.
In addition, the Watch8 has fast charging and wireless charging based on WPC, as well as support for LTE, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 2.4+5G Hz, NFC and GPS(L1+L5)Beidou/Galileo. The new products also have 5ATM + IP68 water and dust protection.
Another new watch, the Galaxy Watch8 Classic, comes in just one 46mm variant measuring 46.4 x 46 x 10.6mm and weighing 63.5g in black or white. This version has a 1.34-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 438 x 438 pixels. It also has a larger battery capacity of 445mAh and 64GB of storage. Otherwise, the Watch8 Classic shares the same specs as the regular models.
The Galaxy Watch8 series also introduces the first-ever antioxidant index in a smartwatch, allowing you to measure your carotenoid levels in just five seconds. The smartwatch also features personalized tracking and sleep tips, and a built-in running coach.
To better track your mood, the Galaxy Watch8 offers a mindfulness tracker where watch owners can record their mood and receive breathing exercises to manage stress. In addition, an AI-powered vital energy indicator will provide a better understanding of physical condition.
The Galaxy Watch8 is also the first smartwatch to feature Wear OS 6 with One UI 8 Watch. It features the built-in Gemini assistant, which can perform a variety of tasks using voice commands, and new multi-information tiles for better access to health metrics, weather, events, and more. Finally, the Now Bar ensures that key actions are always in the owner’s focus.
