The internal One UI 8 firmware build suggests a major change in the Galaxy S26 lineup. Instead of the usual names — basic, Plus, and Ultra — Samsung may introduce the Galaxy S26 Pro, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra models, Android Authority reports.

According to new data, Samsung will abandon both the Galaxy S26 Plus model and the standard version. Three codenames — M1, M2, and M3 — have been discovered in the One UI 8 firmware, which correspond to the Galaxy S26 Pro, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra.

In the previous Galaxy S24 and S25 series, Samsung used a three-model structure: standard (E1/PA1), Plus (E2/PA2), and Ultra (E3/PA3). In the new scheme, the "M1" code corresponds to the Pro model, which signifies a change in positioning - the base version is no longer the main one in the series.

If confirmed, the name change could signal a new pricing policy. The "Pro" designation on the base model hints at a price increase or improved features compared to the current Galaxy S25.

Of course, this is not a final decision and Samsung may change its plans before the official announcement of the Galaxy S26. However, the new data coincides with previous information published by insider @heyitsyogesh . According to him, Samsung is indeed planning to update its approach to the flagship series.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 in early 2026. By the way, some details about the Galaxy S26 Edge and Galaxy S26 Ultra recently appeared on the Internet.
