Samsung's new Color E-Paper screen consumes almost no energy

- 9 April, 06:38 PM

Samsung has introduced a new Color E-Paper EM32DX screen, which can be used instead of advertising displays, the key feature of which is minimal power consumption.

According to the International Electrotechnical Commission, devices with a power consumption of less than 0.005 W have a nominal value of 0.00 W, so a Samsung display that consumes less than this power falls under this definition.

Samsung claims that this screen requires significantly less power than other digital signage solutions. Paired with a 4,600 mAh battery, the Color E-Paper can last up to 200 days on a single charge if the displayed content changes once a day.

The Color E-Paper, on the other hand, has an ultra-thin and lightweight 32-inch body with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, as well as USB-C ports for data transfer and charging, 8 GB of storage, and support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. In addition, the screen was made from 50% recycled plastic.

The screen is controlled via the dedicated Samsung E-Paper App, available on Android and iOS. It can be used for remote control, setting on/off times, and creating custom playlists with pre-defined intervals.

In addition, the Color E-Paper is also compatible with Samsung’s VXT cloud-based CMS platform, which also allows for remote management of the device and additional content creation. Companies looking to integrate the screen into their own content management systems will be able to do so via the Tizen Enterprise Platform.
