Chinese company UBTech Robotics has shown off its humanoid robot Walker S2, which is capable of changing its own batteries without human intervention. T4 writes about this. Thanks to this solution, the robot can work continuously and around the clock.

In a demonstration video, the developers showed the replacement process: the robot approaches a special station, removes the discharged battery and replaces it with a fully charged one. During this process, the robot is powered by a second battery, so it does not stop working.

The energy management system of Walker S2 is adapted to different loads. If more intensive tasks are expected, the robot prioritizes quick battery replacement. If standard operating mode is expected, it performs normal charging from the network.

According to the developers, this algorithm allows for full autonomy without interruptions for recharging. In production conditions, one Walker S2 can potentially replace three workers, which, according to UBTech, will help reduce costs and increase efficiency.

The Walker S2 has already attracted interest from major Chinese automakers, including Nio, BYD, and Zeekr, who are considering integrating it into production lines where process continuity is critical.
