At the Xbox Games Showcase, Asobo Studio announced the next installment in the A Plague Tale series, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. It is a prequel to Requiem, set 15 years before the events of Hugo and Amicia.
The main character will be Sofia, a smuggler familiar from the previous game. According to the plot, she seeks to gain independence and start a life on her own terms in the cruel world of the 14th century. The trailer showed an escape from a burning ship, fights in the arena and exploration of ruins.
The game will be more combat-oriented: the description mentions new melee mechanics, including parrying and attacks. In terms of style, the new game will be closer to an action-adventure game than the stealth of previous installments.
Resonance will also feature a new storyline - a mythological one. The events will partly take place on "Minotaur Island", where Sofia will encounter ancient legends, traps and creatures from the Minoan culture. The Macula herself - the mysterious force that was the driving force in previous games - will probably also receive a new origin or interpretation.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will be released in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC (Steam, Microsoft Store). The game will be available from day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Recall that at the Xbox Games Showcase presentation, a new portable game console based on Windows 11 was also presented - ROG Xbox Ally. It was jointly developed by Microsoft and ASUS.
