Reroot is a new app created by the charitable foundation Rescue Now and Beetroot that gamifies the recovery of Ukraine. It allows users from all over the world to donate, buy and care for trees, and volunteers will implement it in real life.
The app combines classic Tamagotchi gameplay with RPG elements and real-world environmental changes. Players will take care of their trees in a virtual space while volunteers plant them in the de-occupied territories of Ukraine.
In addition to planting trees, Reroot also allows you to develop the entire world. At the beginning, users choose a community in need and plant their first tree. They will also be notified later about how many trees they have planted and in which areas.
For gamification, users will be able to open new territories, water and fertilize planted trees, and unlock new plant species. With each contribution, bonuses and additional opportunities will also be given. All actions are carried out for small donations, and your own achievements can be shared on social networks.
The Reroot project was launched in 2023 by the Kharkiv-based charity Rescue Now. Since then, over 7,000 families in frontline regions have received seed kits to restore their own gardens. As a result, over 600 tons of crops have been harvested for winter supplies and economic stability of communities.
The Now app is a logical extension of the household restoration initiative. The app’s ambitious goal is to plant 5,000 trees this year. You can download Reroot from Google Play or the App Store, and learn more about the project on the official website.
